This NAACFRC research brief examines the social characteristics of African American fathers connected to families who receive Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF). The findings highlight that many fathers demonstrate strong paternal engagement and positive coparenting relationships, and underscores the need for policies and programs that address both social and economic factors shaping family well-being.
